Chapter 1 -- Installing the NanoComputer Tools Software

Introduction

Before we can begin writing applications for the NanoComputer we need to install the latest NanoComputer Tools. Please follow the steps below on this page to download and install the latest NanoComputer Tools.


Downloading the Latest NanoComputer Tools Software

  • To install the NanoComputer Tools Software, you will need to download the latest NanoComputer Tools Installer from the NanoComputer Download Page.
  • After opening the NanoComputer Download Page click on the latest NC_Tools file to download it as shown in the screen shot below. The following instructions are for people using the FireFox web browser. Internet Explorers should see something similar but not identical.

  • If you are using the FireFox Web Browser, a Save Dialog will appear. Click the Save File button to save the NC_Tools installer file. After a few minutes, the NC_Tools installer file will finish downloading and you will see a Download Dialog appear. Double click on the NC_Tools installer file to launch the installer.

  • If you are using the Internet Explorer Web Browser, a File Download Dialog will appear. Click the Run button to launch the installer.

  • You may receive a Security Warning Dialog from XP like the one below. If you receive such a warning dialog from XP, click on the Run button to install the NanoComputer Tools Software.

Running the NanoComputer Tools Installer

  • The NanoComputer Installation consists of three screens, a License Screen, an Installation Folder Screen, and an Installation Completed Screen.
  • Ths first screen to appear is the License Screen. Read the License Agreement and click the I Agree button to accept the license.

  • The second screen to appear is the Installation Folder Screen. It is recommended to install to the default location of C:\NanoComputer. Click Install button to continue :the installation.

  • The final screen is the Installation Completed Screen. The NanoComputer Tools have now been successfully installed. Click the Close button to close the Installer.
